The North Carolina fair is always so much fun. I've gone several times over the past few years. The food, the lights, the overpriced games, and horrible music blaring from the rides - what more could you ask for in a night of fun. Tonight was a great night to go, it wasn't nearly as busy as I expected it to be. In fact coming in we didn't wait in a minute of traffic, found a parking spot (that we didn't have to pay for) and walked into the fair within 15 minutes of leaving my house.
The food was wonderful, we had:
Bloomin' Onion & ranch
Deep Fried Mac & Cheese
Deep Fried Cinnamon Roll topped in bacon
Roasted Corn
TURKEY LEG!
Cheerwine Slush
Ginger Ale from Pappy's
The only thing we didn't get that I wanted was the yummy yummy ice cream from NC State: Howling Cow - but I will be getting some on Sunday when I return.
One thing I love about the NC State fair is the amount of agriculture. NC State is a HUGE agriculture school, so it only makes sense that there is probably 1/4 of the fair devoted to it. There are a lot of exhibits that I wasn't able to see (again this will be remedied on Sunday when I go back) but I did get to see the State Fair Ark - what can I say I'm a sucker for baby pigs, ducks, donkeys, and cows.
All in all I had a really great time. I'll be going with a different group of people on Sunday at a much earlier time so I'm sure I will have plenty more to share after that trip.
Have you made it to the fair yet? What did you eat? What was your favorite part? What should I check out on Sunday when I go back?
